Just prior to midnight on August 31, 2006, 31-year-old Philip Moultrie, who was driving on Bruce K. Smalls Drive in Grays Hill, was shot at by unknown subjects.
According to a witness, as the shots shattered the rear glass of Moultrie’s vehicle, he pulled over and exited.
The same witness advised the when Moultrie got out of his vehicle, he was shot multiple times.
The witness claimed that he did not see who shot Moultrie.
As a result of his gunshot wounds, Moultrie later died at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Investigators learned that Moultrie may have had numerous enemies in the Grays Hill area and that possible motives for his shooting death could have been illegal drugs or revenge.
Numerous possible subjects were located and interviewed. Investigators were able to able to rule out the involvement of some of those who were interviewed, but not the involvement of others.
Information obtained in the investigation has not led to probable cause for an arrest in this case.
