How do I ...?
Incident reports may be filed in person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at our Beaufort or Hilton Head Island offices. Click here for directions. In certain instances, you may file an incident report over the phone. To reach our Beaufort office, call 843-255-3200 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. To reach our Hilton Head office, call 843-255-3300 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Another option is to call our 24/7 non-emergency line at 843-524-2777.

To report an item stolen, you can:

  • If this happened in the northern part of Beaufort County, call 843-255-3200
  • If this happened in the southern part of Beaufort County, call 843-255-3300
  • Call our 24/7 non-emergency dispatch number at 843-524-2777
Incident reports that were filed over the past 14 days can be inspected in-person at our Beaufort and Hilton Head Island offices from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For directions to our offices, click here. For incident reports filed more than 14 days ago, click here to file a Freedom of Information Act request. The fee for copies of official records is $1.00 for the first page and 25 cents for each additional page. If you are involved in an incident and are named in the report, you may receive a copy of the report at no charge.

After a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputy makes an arrest, charges are filed with the Beaufort County Clerk of Court.

To follow the status of a case online, click here for the Beaufort County Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Public Index. There, you can search by name or case number.

Depending on the nature of the charges, your case will either be heard in General Sessions Court or Magistrate Court.

Cases filed in General Sessions are handled by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. To speak with someone at the Solicitor’s Office, call 843-779-8477.

Cases in Magistrate Court are handled by the arresting deputy. For questions related to your Magistrate Court case, contact the deputy named on your ticket.
