On October 21, 2003, 63-year-old Yu Cheung Tam was shot to death during a home invasion at his Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park, Beaufort residence.
There were numerous witnesses present in Tam’s home during the shooting were in the residence when the incident occurred. It was learned multiple unknown suspects were observed in and around the home and involved in the incident, none of which were effectively identified.
Tam, the owner of Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park, apparently had recent disputes with local drug dealers over them selling drugs in the area. These disputes and the robbery are believed the motives in Tam’s murder. It was disclosed during an interview of witnesses; the suspects were heard asking Tam where the money was prior to hearing the gun shot.
