Daniel F. Gourley II

Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 2021.
Originally from Kentucky but raised in Bluffton.

Gourley served as an Assistant Attorney General for the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office from 2013-2016. During that time, Gourley handled all post-conviction relief matters for the 2nd and 3rd Judicial Circuit. While at the Attorney General’s office, Gourley conducted numerous evidentiary hearings in the South Carolina Circuit Courts and argued various appellate matters at the South Carolina Court of Appeals. From 2015-2016, Gourley joined the Internet Crimes against Children’s Division, where he assisted in the prosecution of criminal matters in the Court of General Sessions for South Carolina.

After leaving the Attorney General’s office, Gourley served as an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel for the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. As an Assistant Disciplinary Counsel, Gourley prosecuted hundreds of cases as lead counsel involving professional licensing violations in a variety of regulated industries.

Immediately prior to joining the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Gourley served as an Assistant Solicitor for the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in both Jasper and Beaufort County. Gourley prosecuted both misdemeanors and felonies ranging from Driving under the Influence 1st offense to Attempted Murder. Gourley participated in numerous jury trials as first and second chair and gained valuable experience in all aspects of litigating cases.

Additionally, Gourley is a member of the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division, Beaufort Bar Association, and South Carolina Bar Association.
