The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for information in the March 2022 Burton shooting death of Malcolm Donaldson.
Case History
On March 23, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Lexxus Ln., near Milledge Village Rd., Burton.
When deputies arrived, they secured the scene for Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paramedics to respond. The adult male gunshot victim was located in a vehicle.
At the scene, EMS paramedics attempted life-saving efforts and transported the wounded man to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased man as 52-year-old Malcolm Donaldson of Burton.
Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses.
Evidence found at the scene indicated that it was likely more than one subject was involved in the shooting.
The subjects have yet to be identified. The investigation is ongoing.
