The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force concluded two separate investigations into the sale and distribution of illegal substances last week.
In cooperation with NCIS, the Sheriff’s Office arrested James Gillentine, 27, on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 after a month-long investigation into the illegal sale of methamphetamine from a Milledge Village residence in Burton. He was arrested at his home and charged with three counts of distribution of methamphetamine and three counts of distribution of a controlled substance within the proximity of a school.
On Friday, February 17th, Tywonne Smalls was arrested on outstanding warrants for the illegal sale and distribution of heroin and cocaine as well as the distribution of a controlled substance within the proximity of a school. Following Smalls’ arrest, a search warrant was executed at his Familial Lane home on Lady’s Island. During the search, several illegal substances were seized which resulted in additional charges of trafficking fentanyl, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
