A 55-year-old woman has been arrested following a domestic-related shooting early Sunday morning on St. Helena Island.
Shortly after midnight on July 5, 2026, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a gunshot victim at a residence in the area of White Sands Circle. Deputies responded and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was alert and responsive when deputies arrived. Deputies provided aid until Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported him to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Deputies arrested Stephanie Legree, 55, without incident for Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.
The investigation determined the shooting occurred during a domestic argument at the residence. Investigators also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
