Beaufort County is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Watch as Tropical Storm Nicole is forecasted to have impacts on the Lowcountry beginning tomorrow, November 10, 2022.
A “warning” is issued when hazardous weather or hydrologic (water cycle) event is occurring, imminent or likely. People in the path of the storm/event need to take protective action.
Currently, the forecast shows concern for coastal flooding and storm surge flooding in coastal areas, especially during periods of high tide due to strong onshore winds and extremely high tides. Homes that normally experience flooding during extremely high tides should be prepared.
There is an increased chance of isolated tornadoes beginning late Thursday afternoon and ending Friday.
Excessive rainfall may be seen Thursday afternoon and continuing into the evening, moving out of our area by Friday morning.
The wind risk remains low overall; however, the combination of rain and gusty winds may result in isolated tree or power line damage.
Please remain alert for weather watches and warnings throughout the day tomorrow. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use extreme caution while traveling.
Beaufort County government offices, including convenience centers, will be closed on Thursday, November 10th, 2022, in preparation for Tropical Storm Nicole.
Beaufort County School District will have an eLearning and remote workday.
