Shortly after 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Ashton Cove Dr., Hilton Head Island to a report of a barricaded male subject.
When deputies arrived, they learned that the subject was armed with a shotgun and fired it at least one time inside the residence.
Deputies and SWAT members set up a perimeter around the residence, while negotiators established telephone communication with the subject.
At approximately 5:15 p.m., the subject exited the residence unarmed and was taken into custody; no one was injured.
The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.
