On July 24, 2021, Delmar Sanders, who is wanted in Beaufort County for Friday’s fatal shooting, turned himself in to law enforcement authorities in Camden County, Georgia.
Until his extradition hearing, Sanders will be held in the Camden County Detention Facility as a fugitive from justice.
In Beaufort County, Sanders is facing charges of Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime for Friday’s Burton shooting that left one man dead and a woman wounded.

Case History
Just after 1:30 a.m. July 23, 2021, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting with two gunshot victims in the area of Stanley Farms and Laurel Bay roads in Burton.
When deputies arrived, they located a wounded man and woman and secured the scene for Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
EMS transported the two victims to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The wounded man, 29-year-old Deonne McLendon of Burton, died at the hospital; the wounded woman was treated and released.
The Investigation
At the scene, deputies learned that the victims had been shot near the road and the subject fled prior to their arrival.
Sheriff’s Office investigators were notified of the shooting and responded.
Investigators processed the crime scene for forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses.
In those interviews, Delmar Sanders, 29, of Beaufort was identified as the subject who shot and killed McLendon and wounded the woman.
Obtaining of Arrest Warrants
On July 23, following the interviews and an evaluation of the evidence, investigators met with a Beaufort County magistrate and presented the facts of the case.
After reviewing the facts, the magistrate issued arrest warrants for Sanders for Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Arrest of Delmar Sanders
On the night of July 24, Sanders turned himself in to law enforcement authorities in Camden County, Georgia.
Sanders is being held as a fugitive from justice in the Camden County Detention Facility, until his extradition hearing for the Beaufort County charges.
When extradited, Sanders will be transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated on warrants for Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
