Shortly after 11 p.m. May 5, 2015, 34-year-old Herman Gaston left his University Park apartment in Bluffton to drive to a nearby gas station.
Moments after Herman left, several witnesses heard a loud “bang” and screeching tires.
Beaufort County Sheriff Office deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crash at Parkside Way and University Parkway.
When deputies and fire medics arrived, it was apparent that Herman had been shot. Paramedics could not revive him, and he died at the scene. There were no witnesses to the shooting, but people observed a black sedan in the University Park area around the time of the incident.
The subjects responsible for Gaston’s shooting death have not been identified.
