Investigation underway in shooting and subsequent vehicle fire that left two dead, one hurt

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting and subsequent vehicle fire that left two people dead and one hurt.

At about 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a shooting incident that occurred at the corner of Parris Island Gateway and Trask Parkway in Burton. Within minutes, another report was received of a vehicle fire in the 800 block of Ribaut Road in Beaufort. The two incidents are related.

Investigators have determined there were three individuals inside the vehicle when the shooting occurred and while on the way to the hospital, the vehicle crashed and caught fire.

Two of the three occupants are deceased. The third occupant is being treated for their injuries.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to perform autopsies on the two deceased individuals today, October 24, 2024.

The investigation is ongoing, and investigators are seeking information from the public.
