A Hampton County man is in custody following a standoff on Hilton Head Island.
Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 32-year-old Charles Antoine Brown of Garnett, SC on charges of Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person and Breach of Peace.
At about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, deputies responded to a report of an armed subject with a rifle making threats in the area of Hilton Head Gardens Apartments located 11 Southwood Park Drive on Hilton Head Island.
Once on scene, deputies located Brown with what appeared to be a rifle. Brown went into an apartment and refused to cooperate with deputies.
The Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Negotiations teams responded. After continued attempts to communicate with Brown, members of the SWAT team breached the door of the apartment where he surrendered without incident.
While on scene, deputies detained and later arrested Malaisha Young for Public Disorderly Conduct after Young became irate.
Brown and Young were transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where Brown remains incarcerated.
