Man in custody after early morning break-in of Hilton Head Island residence

Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Kewyn Louis Williams for two counts of first-degree burglary, voyeurism, peeping tom, indecent exposure and petit larceny.
Shortly before 5 a.m. on January 5, 2023, deputies were called to a home on Mathews Drive on Hilton Head Island for a report of a burglary. Once on scene, deputies learned a 16-year-old female victim woke to find a man inside of her bedroom. They also learned when she got out of bed and confronted the man, he left the residence. He was not located at the scene when deputies arrived.
The homeowners reviewed surveillance footage from inside the home later that morning. While reviewing the activity from the early morning hours, they discovered the man was inside the home two different times during the night.
The first time he entered the residence was around 2 a.m. While inside, he explored the home, as well as entered the victim’s bedroom. He left about ten minutes later.
The man later returned around 4 a.m. Once inside the home for the second time, the man took personal property belonging to the homeowner and exposed himself in the area of the living room. He once again went into the victim’s bedroom and appeared to be recording her before she was startled and woke up.
Each incident was clearly observed on video by investigators with the Sheriff’s Office. After positively identifying the man as 35-year-old Kewyn Louis Williams, investigators sought warrants for his arrest.
