Man wanted for attempted murder arrested following tip

20-year-old Raul Francisco Doporto, who was wanted for attempted murder and aggravated breach of peace for July 16 shooting in Grays Hill, was arrested in Beaufort following a tip from the community.

On July 16, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Shell gas station in Grays Hill following a report of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, they located a Beaufort man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.

25-year-old Vincent Leroy Williams and 23-year-old Shiron Joseph Brown were charged with attempted murder and aggravated breach of peace in connection with the shooting on July 16th. Both remain incarcerated.

Investigators learned there was a third subject involved in the shooting, 20-year-old Raul Francisco Doporto. Arrest warrants were obtained for Doporto for charges of attempted murder and aggravated breach of peace.

Doporto remained at large until Monday evening when deputies received a tip from the community. Acting on the information received from the tipster, Doporto was located and arrested by deputies for the outstanding warrants shortly after 10:00 PM in Beaufort.

Doporto possessed a firearm at the time of his arrest. Additional weapons charges may be forthcoming.

He was incarcerated at the Beaufort County Detention Center and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
