Captain Mark L. Mattox

Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1985.
Originally from Honolulu, but raised on the West Coast,
East Coast and in the Gulf area.

Captain Mark L. Mattox serves in the Administrative Division of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, where he manages Criminal Records, Civil Process and Judgments, Warrants, Hilton Head Airport Security and the South Carolina Incident-Based Reporting System. He is also the Freedom of Information Act Compliance Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.

Captain Mattox started his career as a Patrol Deputy with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1985 and worked his way up to the rank of Staff Sergeant, becoming a shift supervisor. While assigned to the Northern Enforcement Branch, Captain Mattox served as a Field Training Officer, SWAT Team member and DARE Officer assigned to Lady’s Island Elementary School.

In 2001, he was promoted to Lieutenant within the Administrative Division where he managed Criminal Records, Civil Process and Judgments, Warrants and Court House Security. In 2006, he was promoted to Captain within the Administrative Division.
