Captain Scott Johnson
Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1990.

Captain Scott Johnson oversees the Special Operations Section at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. He serves as commander of the Bomb Squad, Dive Team, Marine Patrol and Environmental Crimes units, for which he manages the daily operations, training and response. Captain Johnson is also the Office of Homeland Security Grant Project Director and Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Johnson began his career at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy in the Southern Enforcement Branch. A year later, he became a member of the SWAT Team. In 1992, he served on the Narcotics Unit and became a Patrol Dog handler in 1994.
Captain Johnson was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and Lieutenant in 1999, when he was assigned commander of the Tactical Operations Section of the Sheriff’s Office, which was responsible for all special teams (Drug Task Force, SWAT Team, Bloodhound Tracking Team and Patrol Dog units). In 2005, he was promoted to Captain of the Tactical Operations Section. In 2009, he became a Bomb Technician.
