Major Bob Bromage
Joined the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in 1990.
Originally from Connecticut.
Major Bob Bromage serves as the Public Information Officer and Cold Case Investigator. As Public Information Officer, or PIO, his duties include media and public relations, as well as overseeing social media and video production and hosting for “Lowcountry Law: On Air” on The County Channel. As the Cold Case Investigator he is charged with overseeing the investigation of Beaufort County’s unresolved homicides and missing person cases.
Major Bromage started with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in November 1990 as a deputy sheriff assigned to patrol Southern Beaufort County. In 1993, he was promoted to the rank of detective and began focusing on the investigation of violent crimes. As a detective, he mainly worked the night shift, which provided an excellent learning opportunity for crimes against persons, other most serious crimes and the agency’s cold cases.
When Sheriff P.J. Tanner took office in 1999, Major Bromage was assigned as the supervisor for a county-wide major crimes unit, which focused on homicides, robberies and other most serious violent crimes. Major Bromage went on to serve as the traumatic death investigator and then as the county-wide criminal investigations branch commander. In 2015, Major Bromage assumed the duties as the agency’s Public Information Officer, while maintaining the responsibilities of Cold Case Investigator.
