We are pleased to announce the Sheriff’s Office was awarded state reaccreditation (dual) by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Council (SCLEA). State Accreditation represents a strong commitment to professional excellence and is indicative of strong leadership and strict adherence to standards. Our agency has been accredited through SCLEA since 2010. This accreditation is awarded every three years.
The Sheriff’s Office was also awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) in Law Enforcement in the month of July 2022 and for our Communications Center in November 2022.
ABOUT:
South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (SCLEA) is the official South Carolina state accrediting body and is responsible for administrative tasks associated with accreditation. The SCLEA Accreditation Program is a voluntary initiative for professional improvement, fashioned in ways that best meet local needs while simultaneously expressing commitment to professional law enforcement practices.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) is considered the Gold Standard in public safety. Accreditation is awarded to law enforcement agencies that voluntarily demonstrate their commitment to excellence in law enforcement and continually improve their organization through self-evaluation. Accredited agencies are required to continually meet over 400 standards set forth by major law enforcement associations, leading educational and training institutions, government agencies, and law enforcement executives internationally; all of which acknowledge CALEA’s standards as the benchmark for today’s law enforcement agency.
