Sheriff’s Office investigating a shooting on St. Helena Island, one man dead.

Just before 11:00 last night, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Keystone Drive, St. Helena Island.

When they arrived, deputies learned that 30-year-old Anthony Rivers Jr. was shot by unknown subjects outside a residence during a social gathering.
Rivers Jr. was transported to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital by Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services, where he later died as a result of his wounds. 
Investigators interviewed witnesses and processed the scene for forensic evidence. No subjects have been identified. 
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office advised that a forensic autopsy will be conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.
