Shortly before midnight, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 600 block of Broad River Boulevard in Burton.
When deputies arrived, they secured the scene for Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) paramedics to respond; the adult female gunshot victim was located in a vehicle.
At the scene, EMS paramedics attempted life-saving efforts and transported the wounded female to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital; she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 35-year-old Amber Doray of Burton.
Sheriff’s Office investigators and the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses.
A forensic autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.
