Wanted Dale man arrested for March 19 armed robbery

In the early morning hours of April 4, 2022, the Beaufort Police Department (BPD) encountered the wanted subject Jonathan Robinson III on Boundary St.

After being notified by BPD officers, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and took Robinson III into custody for active arrest warrants from a March 19 armed robbery that occurred in Dale.

Case History

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint outside of the Dale Community Center.

The man explained that he advertised his video gaming system for sale on Facebook and was contacted by an unknown male subject, who expressed interest in purchasing it.

The man agreed to meet with the subject at a restaurant, but, at the last minute, the subject changed the meeting location to the Dale Community Center.

When he met the subject outside of the Community Center, the subject pointed a handgun at him and demanded his wallet, mobile telephone, watch and video gaming system.

The man was not injured during the robbery. The subject was not located.

Investigation

Sheriff’s Office investigators looked into the man’s report and learned that the subject responsible for the robbery was 28-year-old Jonathan Robinson III of Dale.

On Friday, March 25, investigators obtained warrants for Robinson III’s arrest for Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, as well as a warrant to search Robinson III’s home off Wimbee Landing Rd. in Dale.

When investigators served the search warrant at Robinson III’s home, they recovered a handgun and clothing believed to have been worn by Robinson III during the robbery.

Robinson III was not at his home when investigators served the search warrant.

Arrest of Jonathan Robinson III

On Monday, April 4, while on a call for service on Boundary St., officers from the Beaufort Police Department encountered Jonathan Robinson III.

After being notified of Robinson III’s location, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Boundary St. and took him into custody.

Robinson III was served with the arrest warrants for Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Robinson III was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Beaufort Police Department for its assistance in locating and apprehending Jonathan Robinson III.
